Cranbrook council has adopted a new transit future service plan that will see a few changes to the system.
BC Transit started developing the new service plan in 2023.
The new plan will see some changes including a higher
frequency route connecting all major destinations, a targeted school route for peak grade school
travel times and OnDemand transit service throughout the city to increase transit coverage.
City staff said the number of transit hours and buses will stay the same.
There will be some operating cost savings from using light-duty buses for OnDemand service, but some higher costs for ongoing technology subscription.
Capital costs will still need to be determined for installations and removals for the new service and a bus stop pull-out on Victoria avenue.
The full transit plan can be found here.
The city and BC Transit are targeting service launch in 2027.
