St. Eugene gets set for PGA Championship of Canada

The 104th annual Canadian PGA Championship is coming to St. Eugene Golf Resort Casino.

Golf Director Cindy Soukeroff said it’s a great boost for the resort as well as the region.

“Overall it’s a great event for St. Eugene and the community,” she said.

“It’s by far the largest event we have done to date and it’s a great way to showcase the facility and entire community.”

The championship features golf professionals from across Canada. The PGA Tour won’t be in attendance.

She said the public is invited to watch the event at no charge.

“If anyone is interested in watching the event, there is going to be some great golf. Last year’s winning score was minus 15 over the three days, so there’s some great golf to be made even if it’s not the tour professionals,” she added.

“When you come out, talk to us in the pro-shop and we’ll give you the safest way to view the incredible golf that’s going to be played.”

The championship runs from Aug. 3-6.
