The City of Fernie has appointed a chief election officer for the upcoming 2026 municipal election.
Kevin Allen is returning for his fourth election cycle in the position, serving in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 municipal elections.
In addition, corporate officer Lavinia McElwee, deputy corporate officer Tricia Fichter, and chief administrative officer Michael Boronowski will serve as deputy chief election officers.
The 2026 municipal election is scheduled for Oct. 17.
Nominations close on Sept. 11 and the campaign period begins on Sept. 19.
