Trail closed following death in Fernie

The Fernie Trails Alliance has closed Trail Dogs following a death on the trail on July 1.

“Our organization and the entire trail community are deeply saddened by this tragic accident,” the alliance said.

“We extend our heartfelt thoughts and condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time.”

The FTA wants to thank the work of Fernie Search and Rescue, Fernie Paramedics and the Elk Valley RCMP.

The trail will be closed until further notice out of respect and to allow the appropriate authorities to complete their work.

Residents are asked to respect all trail closures.

No other information has been released at this time.
