Elkford fireworks continuing despite water woes

The District of Elkford is still having its fireworks display this weekend for Wildcat Days 2026.

Despite the current water issues in Elkford, the show will go on under the surveillance of the Elkford Fire Department.

Fireworks will be launched from Roberts Ball Diamond and can be viewed along the river walkway, at Riverview Park and from other areas.

The district is now on Stage 4 of the return to service.

The Boil Water Notice remains in effect. Tap water is not considered potable at this time.

Residents can turn their water main and hot water tank on at this stage for non-potable use only.

Residents should run an exterior tap for at least 10 minutes to flush out sediment.

Even when full service is restored the Boil Water Notice will be in place until Interior Health gives the all clear.

More on the water service disruption can be found here.

The Boil Water Notice was issued on June 17.
