Boil water notice and water restrictions in place for Elkford residents

A mechanical failure in the District of Elkford’s water system has led to a boil water notice and emergency water restrictions.

Due to a water pump failure loss of water pressure and decreased available water supply has occurred.

Residents within the impacted area, located in the neighborhood south west of the mountain meadows golf course, highlighted in the below photo, must use boiled water or a safe alternative for the time being.

Water used for drinking, brushing teeth, preparing baby formula, washing produce or making ice should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute.

To maintain reservoir levels, residents in the highlighted area are also requested to avoid non-essential water use, including laundry, and showering.

To help preserve the available water supply all residents throughout the District of Elkford are asked to immediately stop the use of sprinklers and irrigation systems.

Crews are working to restore normal service, but the repair timeline is currently unknown.
