Local MLA congratulates new BC Conservatives leader

Kootenay-Rockies MLA Pete Davis is offering his congratulations to Kerry-Lynne Findlay on becoming the new leader of the BC Conservatives.

The 71-year-old former federal MP became leader on Saturday with 51 per cent of the vote.

“I would like to congratulate Kerry-Lynne Findlay on becoming the new leader of the Conservative Party of BC,” Davis said.

“I look forward to working with her and it’s time for us to unite and work together to defeat the NDP.”

Findlay won after four rounds of voting.

The party used ranked ballots, with the winner needing at least 50 per cent of the vote.

The leadership campaign was prompted after former leader John Rustad stepped down in the fall.
