Kimberley Dynamiters shut out in OT loss, still lead series 2-1

The Kimberley Dynamiters were held off the scoresheet in a 1-0 overtime loss to the Princeton Posse, but still hold a 2-1 lead in their series.

Kimberley ran into a hot goaltender in Princeton’s Gibson Horne, who stopped all 36 shots he faced in front of a crowd of 450 at the Princeton and District Arena.

“Gibson was great for us,” said Posse head coach and general manager Colin Minardi. “He made some outstanding saves to keep us in it.”

The Dynamiters generated plenty of chances but could not solve Horne, while their own goaltender, Adam Kisilevich, turned aside 38 shots in a strong performance.

The game’s only goal came on the power play in overtime, when Ben Dods fired the winner past Kisilevich on Princeton’s fifth opportunity. Justice Loewen and Carson Hebert picked up assists.

“We’ve been stressing net presence and traffic all series, even 5-on-5,” said Minardi. “It just looked like Shutts (Jace Shuttleworth) was able to hold his ground net front this time and Ben was able to pick his spot.”

Despite the loss, Kimberley remains in control of the series, though the shutout highlights the challenge of breaking through Princeton’s defensive effort when chances are limited.

Puck drops at 7 p.m. tonight for game four in Princeton.
