City and college partnership finds opportunities to strengthen youth spaces

A recent youth survey has found that young people in Cranbrook are eager for more youth friendly spaces.

The survey was conducted by nursing students Andreas
Kamp, Nadine Bondt, and Olivia Shuflita through the city’s CityStudio partnership with the College of the Rockies.

The students’ survey focused on youth aged 13–17 and explored their experiences with local recreation and community spaces.

It found that youth want more spaces, clearer information about available programs, and increased opportunities to help shape activities designed for them.

That includes incorporating youth-created art into community spaces such as the skatepark.

The full presentation can be found here.

This was the first project though the CityStudio program and the city will be looking to do more projects in the future.
