Drug alert issued for Cranbrook

Interior Health has issued a drug alert for Cranbrook for dark brown chunks or powder sold as Down.

This drug contains carfentanil and fentanyl with a very high risk of overdose and fatal overdose.

“Carfentanil is 50x to 100x stronger than fentanyl,” said Interior Health.

“This drug contains the equivalent of up to 55 per cent concentrated fentanyl.”

Interior Health said smoking is not safer than injecting.

The drug alert will remain in effect until Nov. 3.
