Fernie OCP moves to next phase

The City of Fernie has wrapped up the first engagement phase for the new official community plan.

Fernie’s current OCP was adopted in 2014 and is in need of a refresh.

The document will guide the future of Fernie and provide input on key topics like housing, the economy, tourism and recreation.

V3 Companies has been developing the draft OCP and Jonathan Crowe said it’s something they want the community to get excited about.

“We want people to really believe that the city’s vision is taking shape and that they’re excited about it and inspired by where the community is going,”

The first round of engagement with an open house and online survey is complete and work will now move to fleshing out the OCP.

That work will take the rest of the year and the draft OCP will be released for public feedback in early 2026.
