Eddie Mountain Division teams get ready for second weekend

The KIJHL regular season is in full swing as our local teams prepare for their second round of matchup’s.

The Kimberley Dynamiters are coming off of two wins last weekend and have their home opener Friday against the Columbia Valley Rockies.

They then play a Saturday match against the Osoyoos Coyotes.

“Invermere’s a rival of ours and the Rockies always have a good team so we’ll be prepared for them for our home opener and then shift our focus to Osoyoos,” said head coach Derek Stuart.

The Rockies will look to bounce back after two losses and head coach Tayler Sincennes is expecting some even matchups.

“I’m expecting there to be a couple more close games,” he said.

“Everybody in our division has improved over the course of the summer, so it should be some tight checking, low scoring games.”

They also face Creston on Saturday.

The Golden Rockets only have one game this weekend, Saturday against the Sicamous Eagles.

Head coach Jed Houseman says they will look to build off the success of last weekend.

“We’re not happy yet,” he added.

“We have to keep working, we’ve been competing all week in practice and battling hard.”

The Fernie Ghostriders are going on the road to meet the Chase Heat and Kamloops Storm.

Head coach Chad Scharff said this early in the year they have to focus on themselves and not worry about their opponents.

“It will be more on ourselves and the focus on how we want to play and control what we can control.”
