Community safety on the docket at UBCM convention

City of Cranbrook representatives are wrapping up their week at the UBCM convention with meeting on public safety.

“Today we have our third and final advocacy meeting on behalf of the City of Cranbrook focusing on community safety and security,” said councillor Lynnette Wray.

The UBCM pursues federal and provincial policy changes and will share successful solutions that other local governments have implemented.

Community safety has been a topic of concern for Cranbrook residents.

A statistically valid survey launched last year showed residents felt homelessness, crime and safety were the most pressing issues facing the community.

The city just wrapped up a survey last week on community safety. Results will be released sometime this fall/winter.

The convention concludes tomorrow with an address by Premier David Eby.
