Local representatives have been busy at the Union of BC Municipalities Convention and are looking forward to bringing back what they’ve learned.
City councillor Lynnette Wray was involved in a number of sessions including one on addressing the housing shortage.
“Lots of work on different aspects of the housing continuum, looking at innovative solutions including prefabricated construction,” she said.
The convention is a good way for community leaders hear what is and isn’t working in other municipalities across the province.
Wray said there was some interesting conversation on improving transportation.
“I attended another session on transportation, looking at some innovative approaches like on-demand buses from BC Transit,” she said.
“It’s a bus that’s kind of like an Uber that you can book and order, as well as car share programs and the scooter pilot program that Cranbrook is already participating in.”
The convention wraps up on Friday and Wray said today the focus is on this year’s UBCM resolutions.
