Slope remediation work has wrapped up along the Rails to Trails on time and under budget.
The project started in early August and focused on rock scaling along a 300-metre section of the trail.
City of Cranbrook officials said the slopes were historically stabilized through rock bolting and removal by CP Rail when trains served the Sullivan Mine.
Now that it’s a popular recreation trail, Cranbrook and Kimberley are in charge of the remediation.
The project had an estimated cost of $184,000, but was completed approximately $40,000 under budget.
It was supported by funds from the RDEK and a grant from the Trans Canada Trail.
