Kimberley gets emergency preparedness grant

The City of Kimberley has received $40,000 from the Union of BC Municipalities for emergency preparedness.

The money will be used for the development of a comprehensive evacuation route plan.

“It’s vital that communities have clear evacuation routes and dependable notification systems to keep people safe in the event of an emergency,” said emergency management and climate readiness minister Kelly Greene.

“These projects will improve the information available to communities, residents and first responders so they can act quickly and protect people when the need arises.”

This grant was part of $2 million spread amongst 51 communities.
