Sheriff Rising High Saturday in Cops for Kids Fundraiser

Staff Sgt. Kelly Hunter from the BC Sheriff’s Department is getting raised 32 feet on Saturday for Cops for Kids, all in an effort to raise funds and awareness to the charitable foundation.

As part of her fundraising campaign for Cops for Kids, Hunter is taking on several initiatives in the City of Cranbrook. Saturday’s event will see Hunter ride her stationary bike, getting raised 32 feet on a scissor lift at the Tamarack Centre.

The quicker money is collected raised at the fundraiser, the quicker Hunter will be lowered from the scissor lift and be allowed to stop riding.

Hunter is training for the 1,000-kilometre bike ride later this year as part of the Cops for Kids campaign, with all local money raised staying in the East Kootenay region.

“It’s been an amazing few months getting ready for this ride,” said Hunter. “I’m really excited to have partnered with businesses in town who are more than willing to help out this great cause.”

Sandor Rental donated the scissor lift for the event, while Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse is providing food by donation with all of the proceeds going to Hunter’s fundraiser.

Hunter will be getting lifted around 11:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2019, with the event running until 5:00 pm at Tamarack Centre.
