Cranbrook City council approved a commercial and residential development to be constructed at 810 Cranbrook Street North.

The commercial building will be an automotive glass repair shop, while the residential building will consist of 37 housing units.

The land is the former location of May May Restaurant and the old legion building which were destroyed by a fire around five years a go.

The only concern brought up was that there could be noise complains due to nearby commercial businesses.

Planning manager Rob Veg says noise complaints are a possibility anywhere.

“I would expect that anyone who is moving into a place would take note of where they’re moving next door to, but unfortunately in doing this for over 20 years that doesn’t always stop people from complaining,” he said.

The apartment complex will consist of one bedroom units and one three-bedroom suite.
