Cranbrook RCMP is investigating the latest in a series of vehicle thefts from local dealerships.
Police responded to an alarm at North Star Motors early Friday morning and discovered a grey 2021 GMC Sierra bearing B.C. plate R-H-9-8-9-7 was missing.
“The stolen truck is a grey crew cab with teal and grey decals in the rear passenger window and the letters ‘TL’ in a diamond shape on the driver side windows,” said Cranbrook RCMP.
Investigators believe the suspect(s) broke into the business and stole several sets of keys before making off with the truck.
Police are urging the public not to approach the vehicle or anyone associated with it if it is seen, and to call 9-1-1 instead.
RCMP officials say this is the latest in a string of offences targeting local dealerships:
- April 7 – Sun Valley Nissan – Break and enter over the weekend. No property was determined to be missing.
- April 11 – Cranbrook Dodge – break, enter and theft of a 2019 Dodge 2500, which has been recovered.
- April 12th – Cranbrook Dodge – break, enter and attempted theft of a vehicle.
- April 12th – Cranbrook Subaru – Break, enter and theft of a 2025 Subaru Outback. The vehicle was recovered after fleeing from police.
- April 25th – Cranbrook Toyota – Mischief to three vehicles.
Police say you should check your front and rear license plates regularly to make sure they have not been stolen or swapped.
“Thieves sometimes steal a plethora of license plates so they can keep swapping the plates out, keeping fresh plates that are not yet reported as stolen in order to drive the stolen vehicle undetected for a longer period of time,” said Cranbrook RCMP.
Anyone with information related to these incidents is asked to call the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471.
