Sparwood council has given the okay to a zoning amendment that changes 620 Douglas Fir Road from highway commercial to light industrial.
The district received an application from East Kootenay Pilot Service Ltd. to change the zoning to permit the business.
Transportation services are not permitted under highway commercial but are in industrial.
The lot was also originally zoned for industrial but it was changed to highway commercial intent to build an addition with dwelling units on the second story, but it was never constructed.
A public hearing was held on March 18 but no issues were brought up and no other feedback was received.
