Invermere asks residents to conserve water amid repairs

Invermere residents are urged to conserve water on Thursday while the District completes critical repairs on the community’s water system.

District officials say repair work on the Paddy Ryan Lakes raw water intake will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

“While repairs are underway, our Paddy Ryan Lakes drinking water treatment plant will be offline, and the water system will depend on our treated water reservoir to supply the system during this time,” said District officials.

Residents are urged to save water to ensure the reservoir does not run dry.

“If the repair is completed before the reservoir runs out of water, approximately 12 hours of water storage, there should be no interruption to water service or changes to water quality,” said the District.

“If any issues occur during the repair, residents will be promptly notified and informed about the next steps and required actions.”

The repair work will impact the entire community, but the CastleRock, Pine Ridge, and Westridge areas will be affected the heaviest.

“In the event that our treated water reservoir is depleted during the repair, these neighbourhoods will be the first impacted and could experience a temporary water outage for up to 24 hours,” said District officials.

“We recommend that residents of these neighbourhoods prepare for a potential water outage. This should include storing tap water for drinking and flushing toilets. A Boil Water Notice will be issued if we lose water pressure in these areas.”

Any loss in water pressure should be reported to the District’s Public Works Office at 250-342-3215 or the Municipal Office at 250-342-9281.
