Eddie Mountain Division Championship starts Friday

The Kimberley Dynamiters and Columbia Valley Rockies get set to clash in Round 2 of the KIJHL playoffs.

The Rockies had a surprisingly easy trip to the second round sweeping the Fernie Ghostriders despite being the lower seeded team.

Head coach Tayler Sincennes says the time off has given them a chance to recuperate.

“Anytime you can get through a series fairly unscathed and have that rest time for the guys who have some bumps and bruises it’s going to be huge going into the next one,” he said.

“We just have to manage our time and be prepared for when puck drop happens on Friday night.”

The Dynamiters had a harder time, knocking out the Creston Valley Thunder Cats in six games.

Head coach Derek Stuart says they’re expecting an even tougher matchup.

“They’re a good team, they’re deep and have a lot of guys who can contribute offensively and a really good goaltender,” he added.

“We’re not going to get away with giving them any wins like we did in round one. We need to make sure that if we do happen to lose its because they earned it.”

The Nitros have home ice advantage in this series. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. on Friday.
