Cranbrook RCMP seeking gas thief

Cranbrook RCMP is investigating multiple gas thefts reported between February 26 and March 3.

Police officials say all incidents involve the gas in the target vehicle being drained from a hole drilled in the tank while the vehicle was parked overnight in an unoccupied parking lot.

“Not only have these incidents caused significant damage to the vehicles involved, but the manner in which the gas being removed creates a possible fire risk,” said Cranbrook RCMP.

Police are seeking video evidence, which may be submitted online by contacting the Cranbrook RCMP.

“Cranbrook RCMP requests anyone with information regarding these thefts to call the local non-emergency line at 250-489-3471 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477,” said police officials.
