Interior Health has released the first look at what the new Dr. F.W. Green Memorial Home will look like.
Zeidler Architecture was tasked with designing the replacement long-term care facility.
“This is a pivotal moment as we get our first glimpse of the vision for our new site,” said Dr. F.W. Green Memorial Home clinical operations manager Shawn Jacklin.
“The renderings highlight the modern architecture, abundant natural lighting, and open spaces—creating a welcoming, home-like atmosphere for future residents.”

The care home was announced back in September 2023.
The new facility will have 150 beds more then doubling the capacity of the current building.
“The Kootenay East Regional Hospital District has been a strong supporter of this project for many years and has committed $63 million to help make it a reality,” said Kootenay East Regional Hospital District chair. David Wilks.
“Not only will it create additional, much-needed access to long-term care in our region, it will also provide quality care in an environment that supports quality of life for residents, which is critically important.”
The total project cost is $156.5-million.
Interior Health officials say construction is still slated to begin this summer.
The facility will open in two phases, with Phase 1 expected to open in 2027, allowing all current residents to move into the new building.
Phase 2 is expected to wrap up in 2029, with new residents moving in.
