Meant 2B Loved to open membership drive

Meant 2B Loved Pet Rescue Society (M2BL) is marking its fifth year of operations by inviting animal lovers to join the ranks through its membership drive.

Membership applications will open on Saturday, March 1.

“We are a community-based organization and 100 per cent volunteer-run, so we are excited to have the community more involved in the work we’re doing and to be able to have a say in the direction the rescue is going,” said Darryl Dux, M2BL Board Member.

“As part of it, we’re also hoping this will increase our volunteer pool because we are in need of more volunteers.”

Dux says working with Meant 2B Loved has been a great experience.

“To see the dedication and the passion of the people who work directly with the animals is inspiring,” said Dux.

“There are heartbreaking days, of course, but it is rewarding to be part of the rescue.”

Dux says Meant 2B Loved can always use more support, especially with increased demand over the years.

“We have really had a large continual influx of animals coming into our care or requested to come into our care. Unfortunately, due to a lack of fosters, we’re not always able to keep up with the demand,” said Dux.

“We could use a volunteer coordinator to create a strong volunteer base, we also need people to lead or be on our dog team. We also need bottle team members – bottles and recycling are a big part of our funding and income, so it’s a really important part of our organization.”

People interested in applying for membership, volunteer or fostering opportunities can apply here.

“We welcome everybody and anybody to come join us and save some animals,” said Dux.
