Updated Story- April 10
The Water Quality Advisory (WQA) for the Edgewater Water System has been rescinded and normal water consumption can resume.
The WQA was issued in February after turbidity levels spiked as a result of ice build-up and fluctuations in the freeze-thaw cycle. The turbidity levels have returned to more normal conditions, so the WQA has been lifted.
Original Story- February 18
High turbidity levels have prompted a water quality advisory for the Edgewater water system.
While it’s not a full boil water notice, the RDEK is recommending that children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems should boil their water for all uses.
That includes boiling water for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.
Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute.
RDEK officials say they are frequently monitoring the situation and will provide updates when the advisory is lifted.
