Council approves development permit for 49-unit apartment complex

Cranbrook city council has given the okay to a 49-unit apartment complex to be built along Victoria Avenue.

The proposed development located at 2000 8th Street North, will include a mix of one and two-bedroom units, electric vehicle chargers and a fenced dog area and amenity patio.

“The ideal market for this building would be for seniors who are transitioning out of their larger homes into something smaller,” said community planner Santana Patten.

Council also granted a development variance permit to reduce the minimum required parking stalls from two per unit to one.

Patten says they aren’t concerned about a lack of parking since the building is in a central hub and close to public transportation.

“It’s centralized to amenities and shopping located just off of Victoria Avenue so staff believe that one stall will be appropriate,” she said.

Designs and blueprints of the proposed development can be found here.
