Sparwood council approved funds for new heavy rescue truck

Sparwood will be purchasing a new heavy rescue truck for nearly $1.35 million.

It will replace their engine from 1999, which is at the end of its service life.

After taxes, the total cost is $1,346,758.71.

The district has chosen the Rosenbauer Commander heavy rescue truck due to its storage and functionality across a number of response scenarios.

District staff says it’s designed to optimize space and safety while responding to technical rescues, confined spaces incidents and motor vehicle incidents.

It is expected to be delivered to the community in August of 2027.
