The BC Hockey Hall of Fame has announced the class of 2025 and the 1978 Dynamiters team will be inducted.

The Dynamiters were playing under the Western International Hockey League in 1978 and went on to win the prized Allan Cup that season.

The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the senior ice hockey champions of Canada and has been competed for since 1909.

The 1978 Allan Cup team members were Wayne Bell, Barrie MacKay, Jim McCrimmon, Dallas Ellerby, Barry Cummins, Gene Strate, Chris Becker, Ken Ireland, Dale Booth, Murray Myers, Aurel Beaudin, Mickey Wilson, Darwin Mott, Glen Walton, Jim Cruise, Len Hicks, Allan Fleck, Brian Macklin, Jeff Ablett and Keith Goodwin.

Jim McCrimmon was the head coach while Darwin Mott served as the assistant coach.

The cup winning team will be inducted beside the likes of Dan Hamhuis, Shawn Horcoff, Mike Penny, Larry Kwong and Ted Hargreaves.

“All of these great hockey people honoured the game in our province and now it’s time to honour them,” said Jim Hughson, chair of the B.C. HHoF.

The induction ceremony will take place on July 12, 2025.
