Update: Cranbrook boil water notice rescinded

Update: The boil notice was rescinded Saturday, January 18.

Update: City of Cranbrook staff say the boil water notice will likely remain in place until at least Monday, Jan. 19.

Original: The City of Cranbrook has issued a boil water notice for all residents until further notice.

City staff say there was a breakdown while they were doing repairs to the city’s water infrastructure overnight, which has resulted in some potentially overchlorinated water and water that wasn’t treated properly to entered the system.

All water used for drinking, washing and brushing teeth must come to a rolling boil for at least one minute.

Do not consume the water if there is a strong chlorine taste or odour. Flush the cold water until there is no chlorine smell.

City staff say public works is flushing the system and is in contact with the Interior Health Authority. Water samples will be sent for testing.
