Ghostriders get ready for mid-week Columbia Valley clash

The Fernie Ghostriders and Columbia Valley Rockies will battle it out in a Tuesday match.

The Ghostriders are coming off of a two-win weekend, beating the Golden Rockets 3-2 in overtime and the Creston Valley Thunder Cats 6-1.

“We weren’t overly happy with our game on Friday night in Golden, but it’s hard to win in this league and anytime you do win in the league you have to be happy about it. We’ll take the two points,” head coach Chad Scharf said.

“Our main goal was to refocus for Saturday and come out with a solid performance and I think we did that. Overall a great weekend for us getting four points.”

The two teams are close in the standings.

Fernie is second in the Eddie Mountain Division with 42 points while the Rockies are third with 41 points.

However, the Ghostriders have four games in hand.

Scharff says this will be an important game to try to add to their lead.

“Anytime you play a divisional opponent it’s an important game and for us, they are one of our biggest rivals.”

The Kimberley Dynamiters are still first in the division.
