Over 280 million trees planted in BC this year

This year has been big for the trees, as over 280 million were planted in BC.

The BC Government says over 280 million trees were planted as part of their plans to regrow our forests and make them more sustainable.

This year’s planting focused on fire-damaged areas, with 13 different tree species picked to preserve natural ecosystems and to build resilience to climate change.

Executive Director of Western Forestry Contractor’s Association John Betts says the province is in good shape right now.

“Our members have been adapting to the concept of a restoration economy targeting ecosystem resilience through all kinds of different planting programs,” said Betts.

With this milestone, over two billion trees have been planted since 2017.
