Radium Mayor invites feedback on revised OCP

Radium Hot Springs Mayor Mike Gray says residents have another opportunity to have their voices heard through the process of creating a new official community plan (OCP).

On Tuesday and Wednesday, community members were invited to an in-person and online information session to learn about the OCP, what it will involve and the next steps.

“We have an overwhelmingly good response so far, but the process continues. The open houses were great to give people that information,” said Gray.

“As they digest that, they’re able to go to our website and fill out an online survey until January 2.”

Grey says the survey is an official way for the public to voice their thoughts, opinions and concerns.

“The feedback we get at the public information session is great, but it’s not a formal kind of feedback,” said Grey.

“While that has been overwhelmingly positive, we want to give people a chance to really look at the details and have a fully formed opinion.”

So far, Grey says residents have brought up several top priorities they want to see the Village focus on.

“Where we’re going to concentrate our efforts on our business development, addressing the housing situation, planning for short-term vacation rentals and environmental protection,” said Gray.

“These were the key pieces of feedback that people wanted us to address, and the draft OCP takes the best shot that we feel is most appropriate right now. We’ll see how people respond to it – do we need to make changes or did we get it exactly right?”

You can find the full draft OCP and take the survey here.
