City issues reminder on winter garbage and recycling collection

With snow in the forecast, the City of Cranbrook is reminding residents about the proper placement of curbside bins.

City staff say it’s important to ensure bins are not placed on or behind snow piles and at least one metre away from any obstacles.

Residents are asked to place bins out by 7:30 a.m. on pickup days and not the night before to help with snow removal efforts.

As temperatures get colder more people are starting to use their woodstoves and fireplaces regularly.

City staff are asking residents to make sure all ashes are fully extinguished and cold to the touch before being thrown out.
