Invermere introduces STR reporting tool

The District of Invermere has introduced a reporting line for short-term rentals not following the rules.

Invermere introduced new regulations for short-term rentals earlier this year and Mayor Al Miller says it’s been going well.

“I’m really pleased about that and we want to make sure that balance is there. Hopefully, we carry on with a good uptake in applications and everybody complies properly,” he said.

He says they want to make sure neighbourhoods aren’t becoming party strips.

“It’s been going reasonably well, there’s a big balance between neighbourhood concerns and making sure we’re not creating a business strip or party strip in the middle of a residential neighbourhood.”

That’s where the reporting line comes in.

Residents can call 778-601-9306 to report STR compliance issues such as noise, parking, trash, or other problems.

Reports can also be submitted on the district’s website.
