The Fernie Ghostriders have followed up their first successful game of the season with two more wins over the weekend.
They started the weekend with a 4-3 overtime win over the Creston Thunder Cats.
While the score was close on paper Ghostriders head coach Chad Scharff says it wasn’t really.
“I think the Creston game was a good game for us. I thought we dominated the game from start to finish and anytime you get 50-plus shots and the other team only gets 15 you’re doing something right,” he said.
“Our goaltending wasn’t great but our guys battled in front of them and found a way to get a win in overtime.”
The Ghostriders followed it up with a 10-3 thrashing of the Spokane Braves.
“There was never a moment in that game where I felt we were under siege and overall it was two games with steps in the right direction, but at the end of the day, I think we still have a lot of work to do,” said Scharff.
He says they’ll have to be on their A-game when they face the Kimberley Dynamiters on Friday.
“I think we played two teams that weren’t as strong this last season and now we’re going to play arguably one of the strongest teams in the league in Kimberley on Friday,” he said.
“It’s a good test for our group and I’m not really even worried about our game on Saturday against Kamloops right now. Our focus is on Kimberley.”
The Ghostriders are now 3-1-0-1 on the season.
