Two winners declared in Canal Flats by-election

The Canal Flats by-election has ended with Andrew Weitzel and Paul Marcil declared as the winners.

Marcil took the majority of the votes, with 270 total ballots cast, while Weitzel earned 206 votes.

Meanwhile, 121 people voted for Denise Trepanier and 28 ballots were cast for Mark Topliff.

In total, 625 Canal Flats residents voted in the 2024 by-election.

Marcil and Weitzel will serve as village councillors for the remainder of the term, which will run until 2026.
