Elkford residents are dealing with reduced or no water pressure on Tuesday because of a significant water main break.
District staff said the break happened early Tuesday morning and is impacting properties along Alpine Way from Almond Street to Alpine Drive and Alpine Way to Ash Crescent.
Residents in that area are dealing with reduced water pressure, but officials said pressure will be lost altogether once repairs begin.
The District recommends filling up buckets and/or a bathtub before repairs begin so you have access to water for flushing toilets and other non-potable uses.
You should fill drinking water containers or find other sources of potable water ahead of time as well.
Properties along Alder Street, Almond Street, Arbutus Street, Aspen Crescent and Alpine Drive will likely experience some reduced water pressure while the outage is underway.
If you live in that area, Elkford staff said you will likely have access to water, but you can still prepare other sources of water as mentioned above as a precaution.
“Those living in this area are also asked not to use their sprinklers or irrigation systems during the reduced pressure period in order to help keep the reduced amount of water flowing,” said the District.
The water main break is only impacting one residential area of Elkford, so the rest of the community should be able to use their water as normal.
Drivers are asked to be cautious and obey any posted signs and on-site crew while repair work is going on.
“While travelling through any work zone, remember to give workers extra room, obey the posted speed limits and be prepared to stop if needed,” said Elkford staff.
