Komatsu Mining Building $40 Million Facility in Sparwood

Komatsu Mining has announced a new $40 million sales and service facility in downtown Sparwood, aimed at supporting the growth of their mining business across Western Canada.

Planning to invest $40 million into the construction of the new facility, the building will be approximately 85,000 square feet.

“This facility will be a great new place of work for our employees while enhancing our capabilities, so we can continue to provide our customers unrivalled service delivery,” said Steven Droste, Komatsu’s Regional Manager of Western Canada. “We’re excited to be investing in our community and our future.”

In order to build the facility, the company purchased a 15-ace parcel of land from the District of Sparwood to make the project a reality.

“I can say for everyone involved that we are proud to have Komatsu put down roots and call Sparwood home,” said Sparwood Mayor David Wilks. “Council and staff have put in a lot of time working with Komatsu to bring this project to fruition.”

Komatsu Mining is planning to break ground on the new facility in early August, hoping to complete construction by the end of 2020.
