At least six homes destroyed due to Dogtooth FSR fire

Six homes have been lost along Rauch Road, but assessments are still underway to determine the full extent of the damage in the area.

Town of Golden officials said no injuries or loss of life have been reported.

The evacuation order for 28 properties and the evacuation alerts for 1,044 properties is still in effect.

BC Wildfire Service officials said there was little growth overnight due to a change in weather and wind.

Heavy equipment is re-establishing machine guards on the southeast flank of the fire and mop-up crews are working on where the fire breached the river.

Since being discovered on July 22, the blaze has grown to 5,445 hectares. It’s believed to be lightning-caused.
