Kimberley firefighters take down Marysville house fire

Kimberley firefighters snuffed out a fire that engulfed one home in Marysville over the weekend.

Fire Chief Will Booth said the department jumped into action at around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

“We had 15 firefighters on-scene with two engines, a ladder truck our ATV, along with two RCMP vehicles and the BC EHS,” said Booth.

Unfortunately, the home was completely destroyed by the fire.

“The structure is fully damaged. It was fully involved throughout the whole building, so it’s a write-off,” said Booth.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries. The fire department managed to save two dogs that were in the basement.”

The cause of the fire is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

Booth said residents should do their best to keep their homes safe from fire.

“Residents should be aware of heat transfer and look for guidance from FireSmart principals to make their homes more fire resilient when emergencies happen,” said Booth.
