Four Arrested in Connection to Armed Robbery in Cranbrook

Cranbrook RCMP have four people in custody for their alleged connection to a pizza robbery on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 involving a firearm, one of them being an adult that hindered RCMP’s investigation.

Responding to the 100 block of 8th Avenue in the early morning hours on Tuesday, RCMP said a delivery person was approached by three individuals, one of them producing a firearm and demanding items from the driver.

“The suspects made off with cash and pizza,” said Cranbrook RCMP.

Reaching out to the public, RCMP managed to obtain video of the suspects, as police were also able to get three approved warrants to search three separate residents.

“Three youth suspects were taken into custody,” said RCMP. “While waiting outside, the mother of one of the suspects entered the residence and removed evidence from the scene.”

Police arrested the mother at that time and all four people connected to the incident remain in RCMP custody.

“During the search of the residences, evidence from other crimes committed throughout the past few weeks was located and new charges are being considered.”

Three of the youth have since been charged with Robbery with a Firearm.

“Cranbrook RCMP worked tirelessly in an effort to get these youth in custody before anyone got hurt,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron with Cranbrook RCMP. “We are thankful to the community for providing us with video surveillance which aided us in getting charges against these individuals.”

Meanwhile, RCMP said that the adult mother is in custody and facing charges of Obstruction of Justice.
