Cranbrook city council has decided which local projects and groups will receive a piece of a $295,000 pie.
This year the city had a total of $295,644.96 to distribute to 39 applicants under the Columbia Basin Trust resident directed grant program.
Councillor Lynette Wray was impressed by the wide array of applicants this year.
“The diversity of requests reflects the diverse needs and opportunities in our community and region,” she added.
“We reviewed all 39 applications and we had our community meeting with the applicants who chose to attend which was quite a few of them.”
The largest allocations included $35,000 to the Cranbrook Rotary, $28,000 to the Spirit of the Rockies Society and $28,000 to the Cranbrook Archives, Museum and Landmark Society.
Other groups receiving funds include $7,200 to ANKORS, $11,700 to the Cranbrook Food Bank and $11,000 to the Kootenay East Soccer Association.

The RDEK will review the city’s recommendations at its June 14 meeting and applicants will be contacted by an RDEk representative after.
