Kimberley publishes draft Parks and Facilities Master Plan

Kimberley’s draft Parks and Facilities Master Plan is now on display for the public to view and provide comment.

City officials said the plan will guide how Kimberley provides and invests in its recreation sector for the next 10 years.

“The Master Plan was developed to ensure that future decision-making is informed and best aligned with community needs,” said city officials.

The planning process allows Kimberley to do several things:

  • Analyze the current state of parks and recreation.
  • Identify trends (emerging interests, changes in activity preferences, etc.).
  • Establish focus areas for capital facility investment and programming.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize service delivery.

Residents are invited to share their thoughts and feedback on the draft plan.

“The City and project team need your feedback on the draft Master Plan,” said city officials. “Your feedback will help us refine the Master Plan before it goes to Council for final acceptance.”

Two open house events are scheduled for Tuesday in Centennial Hall.

“One event will be held in the early afternoon and the other will take place as part of the (Re)Discover Kimberley Community Group Showcase,” said the city. “Staff and project team members will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the Master Plan content.”

The first will go ahead from 1 to 3 p.m. and the second is set for 5 to 8 p.m. on April 16.

You will still be able to provide feedback if you cannot attend the events.

“All of the open house materials and an online version of the comment form will be available on this project page closer to the event date,” said city officials.
