The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League fires up for another weekend with a full slate of local games as the Rockets play back-to-back games in Cranbrook while the Dynamiters split time at home and on the road.
The Golden Rockets are set to play both of their games at Cranbrook’s Western Financial Place this weekend. On a four-game losing skid, Golden is hoping to right the ship on Friday against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats as both teams are set to hit the ice at 7:30 pm. Golden will then entertain the Fernie Ghostriders on Saturday, although puck drop is much later, getting underway at 8:45 pm.
Prior to their quick trip to Cranbrook on Saturday, the Ghostriders will be home at Fernie Memorial Arena Friday night, hosting the North Okanagan Knights at 7:30 pm.
The Kimberley Dynamiters continue to lead the entire KIJHL with 23 wins through 27 games (47 points) and will look to get back to their winning ways their most recent 4-3 loss to the Chase Heat last Saturday. Kimberley travels to Invermere Friday to take on the Columbia Valley Rockies at 7:30 pm from Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena. The Dynamiters return home to the Kimberley Civic Centre on Saturday however as they get set for their matchup with the North Okanagan Knights at 7:00 pm.
Columbia Valley will look to extend their two-game winning streak when they host the Dynamiters on Friday. The Rockies will then head to the West Kootenay on Saturday for a matchup with the Nelson Leafs, which rounds out the weekend’s action in the Eddie Mountain Division.
