RCMP Investigating Saturday Stabbing in Cranbrook

Cranbrook RCMP are investigating a stabbing that occurred Saturday night and asking for the public’s assistance.

RCMP first received a call from East Kootenay Regional Hospital around 7:00 pm on Saturday, that a person had arrived with a stab wound.

Police said they arrived at the hospital to speak with the injured person.

“Police learned that the victim was on the trail behind a business located in the 500-block of Victoria Avenue North, when he noted an unknown man and woman involved in a verbal dispute and observed the woman allegedly be struck by the man,” said Cranbrook RCMP. “The victim went to intervene and was allegedly stabbed by the unknown male suspect.”

Both the man and woman fled the area after the alleged attack.

RCMP are now asking for the public to step forward with more information about the incident, specifically those that may have been in the are or notice somone along the path. The public can phone the Cranbrook RCMP detachment directly at 250-489-3471 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
