The Green Bay Committee has “terminated” following claims about the Kootenay ICE owner’s “absence of active engagement” with their committee and their ticket outreach programs.
In a recent announcement from the Green Bay Committee directed at Matt Cockell, President and General Manager of the Kootenay ICE, and Greg Fettes, Owner and Governor of the Kootenay ICE, the committee said they would consider re-activating if the ownership group committed to working with them.
“The absence of active engagement by you and Greg with our committee has become a major issue in our community,” wrote the Kootenay ICE Green Bay Committee. “We believe that this failure has become the biggest obstacle in our ability to achieve a highly successful sales campaign and to create an effective steering committee.”
“As a result, we are terminating our Green Bay Committee effective immediately,” continued the email. “However, we will consider re-activating our committee if you provide us with a real commitment that you and Greg: are prepared to immediately join us and work with us, as partners; and have no plans to move ‘Our ICE’ from Cranbrook.”
Following an article in the Winnipeg Free Press on October 19, 2018, the Green Bay Committee said they were “greatly concerned” about the article and were hoping that Cockell and Fettes would “deny this story” and “remain actively engaged in our sales initiative”.
Holding a Town Hall Meeting on October 25, 2018 to discuss the speculation and rumours of the team’s move, the Kootenay ICE ownership did not attend and the committee claims that Fettes and Cockell advised the group that they wouldn’t be involved in their sales initiatives with their Reach Out Ticket Campaign to secure 500 more tickets for the ICE.
At this time, it appears the Kootenay ICE Green Bay Committee has been fully dissolved and all sales campaigns have ceased.
“Please cease all of your sales initiatives,” the committee instructed its members via email. “Thank you for your tremendous support and hard work on behalf of our community. It is truly unfortunate that the new ICE ownership has decided not to actively engage in our committee’s initiatives.”
