Update: Highway 3 near Sparwood reopens

Update (2:07 p.m. Jan. 23):

Drive BC said Highway 3 between Sparwood and the B.C./Alberta is fully open to traffic following a vehicle accident Tuesday morning.

There is no word on any injuries.

Drive BC said Highway 3 between Sparwood and the B.C./Alberta is back open to single-lane traffic following a vehicle accident Tuesday morning.

Original story (10:45 a.m. Jan. 23):

Highway 3 between Sparwood and the B.C./Alberta border is closed following a vehicle accident on Tuesday morning.

Drive BC officials said the incident happened between Michel Creek Road and Carbon Creek Bridge.

Meanwhile, Crowsnest Pass RCMP said multiple collisions have happened near the closure area, but no serious injuries have been reported.

According to 511 Alberta, Highway 3 was closed shortly after 1 a.m. near the B.C./Alberta border because of an accident.

There is no word on when the road will reopen just yet.
