Vehicle stolen from Elkford recovered in Nelson

Two people were arrested in Nelson under suspicion of being involved with a vehicle theft out of Elkford.

Elk Valley RCMP officials said they received a call on Sunday regarding two vehicle thefts from a business along Front Street in Elkford.

The complainant found one of the vehicles a short distance from the location, but the other was still missing.

“The other truck, which had a GPS system tracker operating within it, had first shown to be active in the Cranbrook area, but had continued onto Nelson BC where it was believed to be in the Walmart parking lot,” said RCMP officials.

Elk Valley RCMP contacted the Nelson Police Service and Nelson Rural RCMP to get their help.

Nelson Rural RCMP arrested a man and a woman who were found in the vehicle. The two are known by Elk Valley RCMP.

RCMP officials said they were released on undertakings as the investigation by Nelson Rural RCMP continues.
