Wildsight Elk Valley receives federal food security grant

Wildsight Elk Valley will receive just over $100,000 from the federal government’s Local Food Infrastructure Fund.

The fund is supporting food banks and community organizations by distributing $9.98 million among 192 community-led projects across the country.

According to the federal government, Wildsight Elk Valley will get $102,598 to purchase an electric vehicle with a refrigeration unit and food storage containers along with charging infrastructure.

Canadian government officials said the fund is meant to support the development of a healthier and more sustainable food system across the country.
